I personally like the All-Star mode the best, where you team up with a buddy to fight CPU's. for 3DS: While typically a competitive game (and a darn good one at that), there are a few co-op modes, which is why I added it here. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for playing with more serious gaming friends, has very fun combat that has a huge skill cieling (will take hundreds of hours to become truely competent with each style of weapon), and you could play this game for a LONG time and not get bored (I have over 2000 combined hours between MH3, MH3U, and MH4U, about 75% of that is co-op with 2 friends of mine).
